Founded in 2020 in Aix-en-Provence, Cearitis has quickly established itself as a major player in the field of kairomones and allomones, a process that attracts and repels pests through odorous molecules naturally present in nature. The company is on the verge of finalizing revolutionary solutions to combat Bactrocera oleae, Ceratitis capitata, and Drosophila suzukii flies, major pests for numerous fruit crops.
Cearitis’ innovation has been recognized by the industry, notably with a distinction at CES Las Vegas 2022 and the prestigious Bernard Blum Award 2024. These awards testify to the company’s technological excellence, supported by attractant patents and a CNRS patent. Marion Canale, founder and CEO of Cearitis, states: “We are delighted to join the Agriodor team and benefit from their technological platform. After 5 years of work and success, we wanted to join a biocontrol company that is focused on conquering and deploying its technology worldwide.”
Alain Thibault, CEO of Agriodor, expresses his enthusiasm: “At a time of consolidation of European industrial champions, I am delighted to welcome Marion and her teams. They have done extraordinary work in recent years, and they will be able to contribute to Agriodor’s accelerated development with these new Push and Pull solutions for flies that we will deploy primarily in Brazil, the United States, and Europe. The integration will be easy because we work with the same expertise, and we will be able to go faster and further in spreading our technology worldwide.
Ene Leppik, founder of Agriodor and head of research, adds: “This acquisition significantly strengthens our technological platform. Cearitis’ expertise in kairomones and allomones perfectly complements our existing skills, allowing us to offer even more effective and innovative biocontrol solutions to our customers.”
This strategic acquisition will allow Agriodor to strengthen its leadership position in biocontrol by combining, its own innovative technological platform, Cearitis’ Push and Pull expertise in combating pest flies. The company aims for rapid expansion in key markets, capitalizing on the complementarity of solutions and the combined experience of both teams. The integration of Cearitis activity into Agriodor marks an important step in the common mission of both companies : to provide effective and sustainable French biocontrol solutions for global agriculture, serving farmers and the French industry, while preserving the environment and biodiversity.
